As Waunakee says goodbye to 2016, the community can look forward to several new projects in the year to come. From road construction to economic development, the dynamic village should continue to develop.
The engineering and utility departments will spend much of their time and energy on the Hwy. Q replacement project. The $3.2 million project will include sewer replacement and new lighting spanning from Woodland Drive to Fourth Street and include new sidewalks.
Already, Village Administrator Todd Schmidt has talked to Waunakee Chamber of Commerce Director Ellen Schaaf about forming a committee to plan for the impact on businesses there, he said. It would be similar to the Together Waunakee committee, a group of business owners and community members who developed means of communicating detours and business promotions during the 2014 Main Street construction.
