Mr. Conrad joined Hovde Properties as General Counsel in March 2013. He has over 30 years of commercial real estate development, as well as leasing and property management experience. Mr. Conrad is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, and Washington. He is also a licensed Wisconsin real estate broker, and he serves as the supervisory broker for Hovde Properties.
Prior to joining Hovde Properties, Mr. Conrad served as the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for a commercial real estate development and property management company with a $1 billion apartment, office, retail, and industrial portfolio. Mr. Conrad also served as the Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary for a large Wisconsin commercial real estate developer and as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for its Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Securities, as well as its Exchange Commission-regulated securities broker-dealer affiliate.
Mr. Conrad earned his law degree from the University of Denver College of Law and his Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado at Denver, as well as a Commercial Real Estate Certificate from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
His published articles and presentations on land use and commercial real estate development topics include “Annexation: Municipal Discretion in Approving or Denying the Petition,” “Using a Water Authority to Deliver Water Resources,” “Local Government Regulation of Land Use,” “Useful Software Applications,” “A Practical Guide to Successful Land Use Approval: Procedures, Politics and Pitfalls in Land Use Planning & Zoning,” and “Local Control of Communication Towers, Antenna, and Cellular Facilities.” His land use litigation experience includes the Colorado Supreme Court case of U.S. West Communications, Inc. v. City of Longmont.
Mr. Conrad has served on the Board of Trustees, Community Development Authority, and Plan Commission of the Village of Cottage Grove and as a member of the Monona Grove School District Citizens Stakeholder Planning Team.
