Waunakee Plan Commissioners Monday got a glimpse of how a new apartment building might look on the 200 block of East Main Street.

A new water tower mosaic sculpture, rising high above the Coakley Brothers Co. building, could serve as a beacon to the redeveloping Walker’s Point neighborhood.

Signs of further redevelopment on Main Street may soon appear if Hovde Properties begins demolition on the 200 block of the north side of the street.

The proposed development would offer 117 apartments, more than 14,000 square feet of retail space, and be located in the 200 block of Main Street, which is the village’s main road. The project is currently in the proposal stage, with no specific groundbreaking date.

WAUNAKEE, Wis. – A developer is proposing a mixed-use project for downtown Waunakee that would bring more than 100 apartments and retail space to the village’s main street. The building proposed by Hovde Properties would include 117 apartments and more than 14,000 square feet of retail space. It would be located in the 200 block of East Main Street, across from a development it built in 2014.

Downtown Madison, Inc recently honored Hovde Properties with their 20th annual Community Asset Award. About the award, President Susan Schmitz, said, “We… were excited to honor Hovde Properties as our 2015 award recipient for the continual contributions they have made to downtown Madison which have spanned multiple generations.”
