WAUNAKEE, Wis. – A developer is proposing a mixed-use project for downtown Waunakee that would bring more than 100 apartments and retail space to the village’s main street. The building proposed by Hovde Properties would include 117 apartments and more than 14,000 square feet of retail space. It would be located in the 200 block of East Main Street, across from a development it built in 2014.

As Waunakee says goodbye to 2016, the community can look forward to several new projects in the year to come. From road construction to economic development, the dynamic village should continue to develop. The engineering and utility departments will spend much of their time and energy on the Hwy. Q replacement project. The $3.2 million project will include sewer replacement and new lighting spanning from Woodland Drive to Fourth Street and include new sidewalks.

Waunakee Village Board members met in closed session last week to discuss the details of Hovde Properties’ redevelopment proposal for the 200 block of Main Street’s north side. Madison, Wisconsin is getting ready to celebrate the unveiling of a first-of-its-kind art installation that will put the midwestern city on the world map for landmark innovation. On Thursday, Nov. 10 from 5-7 p.m., the downtown networking event, New Places, New Faces will be hosted by Downtown Madison Inc., Hovde Properties and award winning mosaic artist Jonathan Brown, to reveal a giant waterfall mural installed with LED lights running the entire height of the 10-story historic building located at 316 W. Washington Ave.
